This past week I have found it hard to get anything done. my P.O.S. laptop has been powering off every 10-30 Minutes. I opened it up to see what the problem was and it seems a few thing have gone to the laptop heavens. I don’t know how the Power Button cable got into the CPU fan ( but I can guess ).
So I decided to buy my self a new laptop, I was gonna get a desktop but since I have a few engagements in the following months I will need something portable to work on.
I searched around for good Linux friendly laptops that *hopefully* wouldn’t need special drivers ( damn EEEPC :P ) I found a good one at Dell’s site and bought my self a custom XPS laptop.
XPS M1330, Intel Core 2 Duo T5850 (2.16GHz, 667Mhz, 2M L2 Cache)
4 GB RAM
All INTEL
*Drool* :-E
So good bye P.O.S. Compaq.

I’ve got one of those, but with 2GB and a 1.6 GHz processor (T5450 I think). I also highly recommend the 9-cell battery: it gives me upwards of 5 hours of work disconnected.
I’m very happy with the XPS. Talking to Zack at Akademy, he’s also very happy with his. He’s got an all-Intel like yours (mine has an NVidia card).

That’s great to hear, I can’t wait to get it. My current laptop has an NVidia card but it keeps giving me trouble with suspend and switching in and out of tty consoles.

I also consider to by a Dell XPS. Is this machine quite or does the fan start frequently? It seems that the XPS get air from the bottom, right? What is your impression about the general stability of the machine? And what about the display? Is this machine good for graphic applications? Did you buy it with a Windows copy?

I’ve got one also, you can even get 4 Gb of RAM with the beast. You can also get it with Ubuntu installed if you find the right option on their website.

I could fix that for you, but I’m in the USA… Shipping would cost as much as having it repaired professionally. MORE maybe. -_-

@TheGzeus, I tried fixing it but sadly everything overheated and half melted lol. Even the speaker cable got melted into the mobo.
